Wellness Care for Senior Dogs
Randhurst Animal Hospital is here to help guide you and your pet through their senior years. As our pets age, changes begin to take place that can affect their health and comfort. When detected early and managed properly, many age-related medical conditions can be prevented from progressing to serious illnesses. We recommend bi-annual wellness exams for senior dogs to ensure he or she stays in good health in their golden years.

Our senior wellness exam for dogs includes:
- An in-depth physical evaluation, including a thorough dental exam
- Tailored vaccinations
- Comprehensive diagnostic testing
- Urine and fecal analysis
- Blood and eye pressure testing as needed
- Parasite testing and prevention
- Heartworm testing and prevention
- Nutrition and diet counseling
Animals age more quickly compared to humans, resulting in dramatic changes in health that can occur in as little as three to six months. Please call us right away if you notice any of the following changes in your senior dog.
- Weight loss
- Decrease in appetite
- Bad breath or drooling
- Increased appetite, especially if accompanied by weight loss
- Excess urination
- Increased water intake
- Reduced exercise, increased stiffness, trouble jumping or walking
- Apparent pain when your dog moves or is handled
