Specialty surgeries are performed by a board-certified, who has a particular interest in orthopedic and complex soft tissue surgeries.
Surgeries are performed at our location.
Before surgery your pet will have a full examination and appropriate blood testing. Pre-operative radiographs will be taken if necessary. Often this occurs several days prior to surgery, which makes your pet’s surgery day less stressful.
A personalized pain management plan is constructed for each pet. Pain is carefully managed throughout surgery, often through local nerve blocks and epidurals.
Many surgeries drop off in the morning and go home the same day. Sometimes we will keep a patient in hospital for several days if close monitoring, IV fluids or extensive medications are required. We will keep you updated on your pet’s progress throughout their stay.
Follow-up appointments are very important to the recovery of your pet. We will assess how they are healing after surgery, remove sutures and repeat radiographs if necessary and discuss long-term care and rehabilitation.
